Department 18 - Needlecraft
- ALL ENTRIES MUST HAVE BEEN MADE BY THE EXHIBITOR SINCE THE LAST FAIR.
- No article can compete as more than one entry; that is, an article can be judged only one time. Only one entry of its kind per person.
- All clothing must be laundered and ironed; fancy work should be mounted on heavy paper or cardboard.
- Each exhibit to be judged on workmanship, worth of article, appropriateness of material, and design.
- Exhibits may be removed only on Saturday, August 6 at 11:00 P.M. or Sunday, August 7 between the hours of 1:00 P.M. and 3:00 P.M.
Basis for Judging Household and Needlework Exhibits:
Plain Sewing — Lingerie or aprons to be judged on:
- Worth of article
- Materials and trimming, appropriateness, quality
- Workmanship — Method of construction, choice and execution of stitches
Dressmaking — All articles will be judged on:
- Material — Appropriateness, quality, color and design
- Design — Simplicity of line, harmony of color, and appropriateness
- Workmanship — Method of construction, choice and execution of stitches
Embroidery and Crocheting — Simple design and edges for trimming to be judged on:
- Worth of article
- Material — Appropriateness and suitability for use for which it was made
- Design — Simplicity and appropriateness
- Workmanship
Knitting — To be judged on:
- Worth of article
- Workmanship — Execution of stitches, perfection
